摘要

EDITORS NOTE: There are always two-sides to every story. Over the many years of publishing AFJ I have comernacross many examples, especially in Nigeria, where aircraft accidents and airport fires which have occurred whichrnhave that highlighted poor airport fire services training, lack of equipment and inadequate fire vehicle response duernto malfunctions or vehicles being in totally unserviceable condition. Presented below is a Point versus Counterpointrnof two separate articles written on the same day in different Nigerian national newspapers. “Playing down” or puttingrna “Spin” on an aircraft accident or airport fire is commonplace in governments in many underdeveloped countries, butrnI have seen this especially in places like Nigeria. So why and “how” does ICAO approve all this? Good question.rnMany international airlines flying into Nigeria and other underdeveloped African countries have asked the samernquestion. You be the judge. — W.M.
