Aida on fire

The main difference between Aida on fire and other opera productions is that it is not staged in the gentile opera houses that so many European cities have. It is an arena tour, bringing opera to the masses and staging it on the same scale as a rock show. The show launched in Paris in November and will tour European cities in 2007, going to average venue sizes of around 10,000 capacity. So the production team has to mix opera with concert touring techniques. The other similarity with rock and roll is that most of the tour is back to back, playing a different city each night.
