Plug-in hybrid technology for next-generation Ford Mondeo

The next-generation Ford Fusion, the precursor to the European Mondeo, will include hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, as well as a greater number of advanced driver assistance systems. The hybrid version will use a four-cylinder, 2-litre Atkinson cycle gasoline engine linked to a lithium-ion battery pack - the previous generation hybrid Fusion used a 2.5-litre gasoline engine and a nickel-metal hydride battery.
