New Discovery as Land Rover sales rise

Dr Walter Hasselkus, chairman and chief executive of Rover Group, has revealed that a new Discovery will go on sale at the end of this year. His remarks came at January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where he said the company expected its 1997 sales of Rover cars and Land Rover four-wheel drive vehicles to have increased more than 3 per cent to around 523,000 units. The final results will not be confirmed for several weeks.
