Professor Ken Greenley

When a young man, Ken Greenley came down from the North East to London. It was the day of the 1964 general election. Labour won. That night he stood in Trafalgar Square, like many others, thrilled and excited about the future. Just out of university, a scientific revolution in prospect, he felt he was in the right place at the right time. In fact, that could be his life's motto. A child of Newcastle, Greenley graduated from what was then called Newcastle School of Art and Industrial Design. He had studied industrial design. "It was the purest Bauhaus education. I suspect it doesn't exist any more," he says.
