北米など寒冷地での塩害対策のために，1970年代後半，各種表面処理鋼板が開発，使用され始めた．欧州自動車メーカでは，電気亜鉛めっき鋼板（EG）や合金化溶融亜鉛めっき鋼板（GA）も使用しているが，非合金の溶融亜鉛めっき鋼板（GI）を主に使用している．%A new type of hot-dip galvanized steel sheet (GI) has shown excellent corrosion resistant, improved with the heavy coating weight due to low product cost, as well as the other properties. Developed GI has also had excellent surface quality provided by adjusting galvanizing conditions with the optimized surface roughness. A new galvannealed steel sheet with an excellent lubrication properties has been developed based on an innovative concept. The product has exhibited the excellent press formability in a press machine and has been successfully applied to automotive panels.
