Standardization: Important Factor of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)

Standardization has a long tradition in the German Automotive Industry. It started at the beginning of the 20th century with some basic ideas. But it was deployed very fast to all potential technical areas. Standardization is an important tool to ensure quality and safety of the products as well as to decrease costs and amount in development and production. It may support the access to international markets but not as an easy going process. The German National Standardization Committee for Automotive Industry used long term experiences to support the industry.
