Baton rouge, LA—A capacity crowd of over 650 public officials, builder/developers, non-profit housing providers, architects and real estate professionals heard how factory-built housing can provide a timely source of permanent housing for the hurricane-damaged Gulf Coast during a day-long housing conference in Baton Rouge on Jan. 31. The conference, part of the Gulf Coast Housing Initiative: "Factory Building the American Dream," also featured a display of three modular and two manufactured homes which drew positive comments from conference attendees, media representatives and the general public. It was the second conference by the Gulf Coast Housing Initiative, with the first in Hattiesburg, MS. on Nov. 17, 2005 which drew approximately 500 participants.
