Wildomar, CA-I first learned that Tony Ruiz had compassion and a heart about the size of Yankee Stadium back in the 1980's when we did a story on him in China teaching people how to build strong houses that would not crumble under their ubiquitous earthquakes. Next, in the late 1990's (1999 to be exact) Tony Ruiz had dragged 30 Americans over to Istanbul in Turkey after their massive earthquake to teach them how build with his proprietary system which combines light gage steel and thin shell concrete. Working for 13 continuous days from dawn until dark the group built school buildings while teaching the Turks the tricks of the trade so they could repeat the system afterwards. However, Tony's greatest claim to fame is the 26 years he has put in perfecting ways to combine light gage steel and thin shell concrete (we're talking about 1-1/2"thick) to build super strong and highly affordable structures ranging from huge warehouses to luxury and affordable homes all the way down to equipment sheds for telephone companies.
