Since 1992 when demand pumping systems were first included into the energy codes as an energy credit for residential new construction in California, there have been many studies and articles on the subject. Studies conducted and articles written by the California Energy Commission, Davis Energy Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratories, LBL, the National Association of Home Builders Research Center, Masco EFL/ Build America and on the water side Aquacraft Inc., in every case the studies have shown both water and energy savings. From the consumer's point of view, the demand pumping systems were a 100% convenient and reliable product. In fact, demand pumping systems installed over 14 years ago are still operating successfully in the homes as reported by the consumers. Although activation is more popular with buttons both hard wired and wireless, Metlund Systems has designed new, effective and energy efficient motion sensors. The Metlund motion sensors can be activated either by hard wire or wireless. Mounting can be in wall plates or wall mounted. Unlike standard motion sensors the Metlund D'Mand motion sensors are designed to operate as a 'beam signal' allowing a single beam to extend out one foot wide and to a depth of 12', 6'or 4'.
