Sagacious Wilcut has devoted a major portion of his adult life to water problems and has helped the San Antonio Water System harvest a legion of awards and honors from local, regional and national organizations. For example, the San Antonio Water System has been the recipient of numerous Water Conservation Reuse Awards from the Texas chapter of the American Water Works Association. Other awards include the Texas Water Conservation Association's Conservationist of the Year and the National Association of Environmental Professional's President's Environmental Excellence Award.
