DES launches new packaging proofer

Colour proofing specialist DES has launched RealProof, a digital colour proofing unit, which the company says will proof directly onto almost any substrate used in packaging, including PET, metallised polyester, BOPP, PE, polycarbonates, soft packaging film, shrink film, PLA, and coated and uncoated papers.rnRealProof uses specially designed UV curable inks to print directly onto films and foils. The UV ink also has a wider colour gamut of warm colours, which abound in the packaging sector.rnIan Claire, managing director of DES, described Real Proof as a new concept in visual proofing, as it can proof directly onto foils and films, with Claire saying that brand owners would welcome the opportunity to see their graphics on the actual substrate to be used in their packaging, and would be equally interested in its ability to provide direct mock-ups.
