China's printing industry: a snapshot by Wang Demao

In China we are very proud of the rapid development of the Chinese printing industry. And whilst Chinese companies are exporting around one million tons of locally made paper and board to global markets (consuming the remaining 100 million tons of paper output locally), the likelihood of exporting print is not yet that great, because the local industry still lags behind those of developed countries in the use of advanced technologies and in terms of print quality. Taking printing presses as an example, many Chinese printers are using the more basic locally manufactured machines which satisfy their customers.
