Offset press manufacturer KBA is continuing its drive into the packaging sector by buying a German glass screen printing press manufacturer. The €30m turnover Kaumann Group is now 85 per cent owned by KBA, with the remaining 15 per cent owned by the two joint managing directors. The move comes just five months after KBA bought Flexotecnica, an Italian press manufacturer active in the print market for flexible packaging. The buy is part of KBA's strategy to enter new niche related markets to counteract the shrinking sales volume of web presses for publications, which have heavily affected by the advance of online media, especially in the US where sales in what was the world's number one web offset market have all but dried up.
