Special libraries as knowledge management centres (Chandos Information Professional Series)

Special libraries support and enhance the mission of their parent organisations, and their librarians are skilled professionals - mediators who deliver the right information to the right people when it is needed. Both libraries and librarians also have a role in preserving and making accessible the memory of the organisation. For many years special libraries have been threatened by shrinking budgets and by corporate management's lack of understanding of the role and value of good libraries. This is particularly true in the current economic climate.
