摘要

Trends, Discovery, and People in the Digital Age is not a very obvious title for a collection that brings together discussions about future directions of our profession. However, perhaps this is deliberate. The core audience for this book is librarians and information managers, but does it also speak of a broader social trend that everyone should be aware of, information overload and how we should better manage it? And what role should cultural institutions such as libraries and those who work with information have in the digital age? I think the work does tackle these questions. In fact there are chapters about reconsidering the idea of the Google generation and the increasing need for organisations to develop better relationships and systems to manage and communicate information.
