External quality audit: Has it improved quality assurance in universities?

This book examines the way in which governments around the world carry out quality assurance within their systems of higher education. The editors and the contributors describe higher education and the growth of the external quality audit system in their countries of practice, including Australia, Chile, Fiji, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, the UK and the USA. Most, but not all, of the higher education institutions discussed in this book are publicly funded.
