Fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) and ferrocement concrete have been utilised in construction practices for many years. However, limitations with respect to their strength and constructability have restricted their use. Fibrous ferrocement concrete, which is the combination of the FRC and ferrocement concrete, can overcome most of these limitations. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on fibrous ferrocement concrete. The compressive strength, flexural strength and impact resistance of fibrous ferrocement concrete are compared with fibrous, as well as with ferrocement, concrete. The results show that the increase of fibre content increases the compressive, flexural and impact strength of the fibrous ferrocement concrete. Similarly, the addition of number of chicken wire mesh layers also improves these strengths. The addition of superplasticisers also improves the workability of fibrous ferrocement concrete.
