In this paper, a simple family of explicit two-step finite difference methods for solving the classical equation of motion of a thin plate is examined. This family depends on several free parameters, and special attention is paid to the stability properties of these schemes, computational issues, and, in particular, the reduction of directional numerical dispersion.
