Women in Defence: Breaking the Stereotypes

The participation of women in the military can be traced back since the 1900s. Although their roles are initially supportive, a number of militaries begun to allow more female troops in their services. In fact, during the World War II, major participating nations enlisted women their defence services. While some have support roles, many have combat roles in anti-aircraft units and front-line units.
