Taiwan Business Alliance Conference Lures Billions in Foreign Capital

The 2003 Taiwan Business Alliance Conference, which was held in Taipei from October 19 to 22, 2003 attracted 1,955 company executives from 35 countries who pledged total investments of NT$138.4 billion (US$4.08 billion). The outcome far exceeded organizers' projection of 600 participants and NT$ 100 billion (US$2.95 billion) in total investments. With the theme "Invest in Taiwan, Access the World," the conference served as a forum for the exchange of information and investment experience in Taiwan by foreign company executives through two summit forums. At least 12 industry workshops were held, including workshops in semiconductors, display devices and communication. At the same time, investment opportunities in Taiwan were shown based on the sectors covered by the "Challenge 2008 National Development Plan."
