Power Conditioners for PV Drive New Components to Emerge

With the increase in the production of power conditioners that have a central function in photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems, the demand for electronic components incorporated in power conditioners has been increasing. Compact size and high efficiency are particular requirements for power conditioners, and new product development of electronic components used in power conditioners has become active. In power conditioners, large-capacity aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used for smoothing circuits. In particular, high-voltage types are required, and modules, in which several aluminum electrolytic capacitors are connected in series, are incorporated. At present, the highest rated voltage of screw terminal-type aluminum electrolytic capacitors is 650V. Recently, products rated at 700V, which can further reduce the number of aluminum electrolytic capacitors to be connected in series, have been developed.
