Anovel application of a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) video entertainment device is allowing small numbers of U.S. Army war-fighters to deploy into Iraq and Afghanistan with greatly expanded communications capabilities. Called the Vcommunicator Mobile LC, the device is based on both standard and nano video versions of the Apple iPod.
