The raw numbers are certainly impressive: With about 350 fixed-wing aircraft, the U.S. Army has more "planes" than many of the world's air forces. Until late last year, the Army had man aged part of that fixed-wing fleet under the Project Office for Aviation Systems, within the Program Executive Office for Aviation (PEO Aviation). That management encompassed only about 250 of those aircraft, leaving approximately 100 Army fixed-wing platforms operating independently by individual organizations and major commands.
