The Suffolk Records Society is to be congratulated for continuing this excellent run of now eight publications in its own right providing printed abstracts (and an index volume) of hundreds of wills for the archdeaconries of Suffolk and Sudbury in the diocese of Norwich covering the county of Suffolk and parts of Cambridgeshire. They provide abstracts of wills for the periods 1439-1474 and 1630-39 for the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and with this volume complete the period 1620-1640 for the archdeaconry of Suffolk, when taking account of two volumes published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society of Boston, Massachusetts in 1986. It is fitting that this volume edited by Marion Allen is dedicated to the memory of the late Nesta Evans, for she was a driving force behind this project, together with Peter Northeast, Heather Falvey and the current editor - a formidable team. Unpublished transcripts of Sudbury wills for the period 1638-39, compiled by Nesta Evans, may be found in Bury St Edmunds Record Office.
