Increasing energy costs, pressure on energy resources, tightening energy efficiency regulations, and demand for high-performance buildings are driving the market for higher efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for commercial buildings. HVAC refers to the equipment, distribution system, and controls that provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning for buildings. HVAC systems are the main energy consumers in commercial buildings, accounting for approximately 44% of all commercial buildings' energy consumption. Last year, commercial and industrial buildings used approximately 50% of the energy in the U.S. economy at a cost of over$400 billion.
