New MIBA headquarters: parametric timber technology

Delugan + Meissl Associated Architects are currently completing the new headquarters for tfghe company MIBA in the region of Salzkammergut in Austria. The four-sided rectangular building is organized around an open courtyard. The roof shape is derived from a traditional gable roof; however, as a contemporary building, it can be adapted to different heights and geometries according to functional and programmatic needs. In cooperation with Bollinger + Grohmann Engineers, a new interpretation of an old timber roof structure was developed using high-tech material and parametric design and construction technology. The structure of the roof loft space has a presence of its own within the overall design concept. The strong visual aesthetics of the exposed timber construction rhythmicizes the elegant architectural design, adding a special atmosphere which is traditional and futuristic at the same time.
