Trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Partnership Centre + Wadden Sea World Heritage Centre

Located in the port city of Lauwersoog in the province of Groningen, the centre becomes another focal point for the Wadden Sea World Heritage Centre. The ambition is for the centre to become an internationally recognizable symbol highlighting the importance of protecting the unique natural World Heritage site which the Wadden Sea embodies. The vast open landscape, the presence of the tide and above all, the 360 degree horizon makes this a remarkable place with a very strong identity. The centre is inspired by its location, in sitting at the intersection between the Lauwersmeer's calm waters in the harbor and the Wadden Sea where the tide dominates. The building will celebrate the meeting between different fields of knowledge and the movement of people and activities. It will foreground the presence of the most basic forces of nature, the sea and the tide.
