With a career that has straddled architecture, landscape, urban design and planning, my professional life has combined teaching and practice for over 25 years. So the transition into my current role as dean at UNSW Built Environment, a faculty that encompasses all these disciplines, was not a such a long bow to draw. My work has focused on projects in the public realm where there is greater opportunity to have societal impact. Educating our next generation also offers this opportunity. It provides a platform to shape future professionals with public conscience and agency - a mindset and skill set - to make a difference on a broader scale.
