Snohetta Unveils SFMOMA Expansion Details

In late November, the Oslo- and New York-based firm Snohetta presented its detailed plans for a 235,000-square-foot, $555 million addition to San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art. The design calls for a 10-story concrete building with a series of outdoor spaces that will help connect the museum to the surrounding Yerba Buena neighborhood. "It's about becoming more extroverted," says Snohetta principal Craig Dykers of his design intent for the expansion. Groundbreaking is scheduled for summer 2013, with completion expected in 2016.
