ADAPTIVE STRATEGIES FOR AN ECOLOGIICAL ARCHITECTURE

Ecological should be understood here as referring to processes and outcomes that are sustainable. As currently conceived and practised, architecture neither is, nor is meant to be, ecologically sustainable. Making architecture ecologically sustainable will require its inanimate materiality to become attuned to the variable biological clocks and activities of occupants inside, and to similarly variable natural rhythms and mundane activities outside.
