MAKE NO BIG PLANS

In a culture overfed by architectural visions, plans, concepts and manifestos, the 'design proposal' as such has lost its power to have real impact. Ambitious, grandiose urban projects cause the actual weakening of the characteristic urban qualities a city possesses and gradually turn them into identical, generic cities. We must again cultivate an understanding of the real city and its real needs, observing the city in actuality and basing our interventions on it.
