Place is something built-environment professionals seek to define and market via renderings of oven-ready spaces for developments that neglect the social and ecological ongoing returns that green infrastructures offer. While too often used as an advertising sop, more profitable and engaging returns remain unseen due to their intangible nature. The opportunities and profits that planted open public spaces offer investors are actually the 21st century's green 'elephant in the room'; it cannot be seen due to its vast and intangible nature and hence remains unarticulated.
