摘要

Generative modelling tools are increasingly popular in architectural practice as they enable the user to iteratively create and evaluate multiple models to explore design potentials and inform architectural decisions. However, many current ways of working cannot fully utilise this capacity, as there is no direct link between the power of iterative modelling and analysis. In practice, multiple models are independently generated for the purposes of visualisation and analysis. This requires time-consuming efforts and often generates a pattern of degradation in data, as models must be exported from their native format. It is therefore necessary to rethink the structure of this digital workflow and narrow the gap between modelling and analysis, [uto] has therefore developed GECO, a plug-in for Robert McNeel & Associates' Grasshopper®, to explore the potential of creating live linkages between 3-D modelling software and analysis platforms.
