Contemplating the Future of Business Enterprise Valuation

Business enterprise value continues to be a perplexing issue. On the positive side, its conceptual validity is generally accepted, and it has attracted a number of advocates over the years within the appraisal discipline. On the negative side, it is not easily estimated, and it has caused considerable doubt among many appraisers concerning when and how to best deal with it. This article addresses major problem areas with the estimation of business enterprise value and offers three possible scenarios for the future. Of the scenarios presented, one is recommended as the best approach for addressing BEV issues.
