The U.S. economy is at an interesting crossroads, at a tipping point between renewed economic expansion and slipping into a recession. While concern over the threat of a recession is relatively new, the seeds have been planted for some time and began to spring to the forefront during the past several quarters. However, concerns have become more firmly ingrained in the economy as evidenced by the Fed's aggressive move to ease rates at its September meeting and its willingness to step up to the plate again if needed, to help sustain or rekindle the economic recovery.
