Y_(2.985-x)Ce_(0.015)Ca_xAl_(5-x)Si_x0_(12) (YAG:1.5%Ce+xCS) ceramic phosphors (CPs) were synthesized by a vacuum sintering method. The addition of CaCO_3 and SiO_2 significantly reduces the sintering temperature of CPs. The effects of Ca~(2+) – Si~(4+) on luminescent properties and microstructures of YAG∶Ce CPs are discussed. The Ca~(2+) – Si~(4+) cannot be completely dissolved in the YAG:Ce CPs when x reaches to 0.2. Combining the results of XRD, photoluminescence, and cathodoluminescence spectra proved the existence of the Ca_2Al_2SiO_7. The performances of the titled CPs in high-power white laser diodes lighting are characterized.
