In this study, the increase in depth of field (DOF) of eyes by super multi-view (SMV) displays was examined using a recently developed reduced-view SMV display that generates viewpoints with an interval of 2.6 mm. Two different three-dimensional (3D) images were used for the accommodation measurements; one contains sharp edges, and the other contains various sharp and soft edges. We found that the DOF increased even for the latter 3D image. Moreover, the DOF increase for the latter image was approximately equal to or less than that for the former, depending on the subjects' point of focus.
