The Effect of Repeaters on Equating

摘要

Test equating might be affected by including in the equating analyses examinees who have taken the test previously. This study evaluated the effect of including such repeaters on Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) equating using a population invariance approach. Three-parameter logistic (3-PL) item response theory (IRT) true score and traditional equipercentile equating methods were used under the random groups equating design. This study also examined whether or not population sensitivity of equating by repeater status varies depending on other background variables (gender and ethnicity).
