This book is a collection of invited papers published in a special issue of the International Journal of Aeroacoustics (Volume 9, Number 4-5/June 2010) in honour of Professor Geoffrey Lilley. Most of the contributing authors have been collaborators of Professor Lilley and most of the papers focus on aerodynamic noise, one of Professor Lilley's main research areas. The book begins with a biography of Professor Lilley written by Professor Philip Morris. It gives us an insight into Professor Lilley's personality and contributions to Aerospace engineering over a remarkably long period of seven decades. This is followed by a tribute by Professor Robert Westley, in which he describes their collaborative work at Cranfield in the 1940s and 1950s. The rest of the book contains invited papers that have been individually peer reviewed.
