Gauging Performance

Different industries mature from vertical integration to horizontal modularity and back again at different clock speeds, according to research. Opportunities to improve supply chain competitiveness can come from the identification of performance gaps relative to another industry. The Supply Chain Council, along with the APICS Educational & Research Foundation, has devised a common framework for the collection of supply chain performance metrics from each member industry. Four basic principles of supply chain management provide an alternative method for applying the best practices of many industries to improve the competitiveness of single companies or industries.
