Team-based manufacturing is either a well thought-out move by insightful managers or (more often) an idea forced on a company by its biggest customers. Shifting to a team-based organization represents a fundamental change. To minimize the undesired consequences, companies must invest significant thought into managing the process. Think of it as transition management.
