Thanks to independent trading exchanges, or ITEs, companies lacking EDI can use the Web to interact with vendors and suppliers. Using ITEs, companies can harness the power of the Web without having to set up their own complex systems. Using the Web as a hub for gathering bids, placing orders, selling inventory, or auctioning surplus, even small companies can gain access to previously unreachable national and global markets, with minimal cost and risk.
