Having a hard time competing on price and functionality? Then compete on customer service. Get the product where it's supposed to be and get it there fast. Moving product quickly and cheaply may well differentiate products that move forward from those that don't move at all. Look to transportation management systems to make it happen. In light of recent developments in logistics—exchanges providing on-line solutions, the ASP model, trends toward globalization, multi-modes of transportation—the traditional definition of transportation management systems (TMS) found itself in dire need of a facelift.
