Recently, a short article in The Economist caught my eye. With the title "Fling Wide the Gates," writers suggest that India, with its 1.2 billion population, should open itself to foreign investment. The article proposes that the country can "bridge the gap between its weak domestic saving and its high investment needs" with foreign direct investment. However, Indian policy, including corruption and bureaucracy, makes it very difficult for foreign investors.
