Drs. Hodgson and Darnton(2000) are to be congratu- lated on their convincing demonstration of the great difference in hazard between chrysotile and the amphiboles. There have been many attempts over the past two decades to produce quantitative risk assess- ments of asbestos, but theirs is the most convincing evidence to date of the great gap between the two fibre types.
