Electrochemical Detection in a Paper-Based Separation Device

Prototypes of microfluidic paper-based separation devicesnwith amperometric detection were developed and evaluated.nPhotolithography was used to make a gold electrochemicalnmicrocell on polyester and that microcell wasncoupled to a strip of paper where a chromatographicnseparation occurs. The device performance was demonstratednwith the separation and quantification of uric andnascorbic acid in mixtures. The method provides an analyticalnalternative for the determination of compoundsnwhere low cost and simplicity are essential.
