The enforcer returns

After spending 2002 largely on the sidelines, the Federal Communications Commission's Enforcement Bureau seems finally to be back in business. What prompted the FCC's surprise return to stringently enforcing telecom rules and regulations is anyone's guess, but it certainly has started off 2003 with a bang. The Commission had come under fire from many in the industry (myself included) for letting the acts of carriers and resellers get so far out of hand that the consumer landscape became something akin to the Wild West.
