Think differently now or dissolve later

Carriers have lost control of their markets. Competition, oversup-ply/underdemand, market openness, transparency, automation, land commoditization are leading to ever-more price stagnation and deflation. With the exception of small to medium sized regional and rural carriers, no domestic wireline provider is both growing and profitable. Some would like to believe these changes are cyclical in nature, hoping that if providers just hang on long enough the market will recover. But it's not going to happen: the structure of the market itself has changed forever.
