Sorting through the wireless broadband maze

The effort to provide wireless broadband services in the United States is likely to gain clarity and momentum in 2005, sparked by a variety of expected new deployments and changing economies triggered by industry consolidation. The deployment push started last summer, when Verizon announced its intention to implement CDMA 2000 1x EV-DO nationwide, and the Federal Communications Commission opened up the struggling 2.5 GHz band to mobile services. That paved the way for other emerging technologies such as Flash-OFDM, TD-CDMA and WiMAX.
